District Election Officer Ashika Jain conducted a meeting today with SDMs, Tehsildars, and Naib Tehsildars to assess the progress of voter enrollment for the Gurdwara Board Elections.

She emphasized that, according to the new schedule issued by the GurdwaraElection Commissioner, voter list registration should be completed by February 29, 2024. Jain expressed concern about the low number of submitted forms so far and urged potential voters to participate in special camps organized by SDMs at nearby gurdwaras on pre-scheduled dates.

Given the substantial Sikh population in the district, Jain stressed the importance of ensuring the maximum registration of voters for the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee (GurudwaraBoard Elections). She appealed to the general public, encouraging every eligible voter to seize the opportunity to submit their forms to the Halka Patwari or the relevant officer.

Jain provided information about the timeline for the election process, stating that claims/objections on the preliminary voter list would be accepted until April 11, and the final voter list would be published on May 3, 2024. Eligible voters interested in registering for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Elections (Board) were instructed to submit Form No. 1 to the concerned Halka Patwari in rural areas or the Municipal Corporation/Nagar Council or Local Authority in urban areas.

Applicants meeting the conditions under Rule No. 3 of the Sikh Gurdwara Board Rules 1959 were advised to fill and submit Form No. 1. Jain specified that applicants aged 21 or above as of October 21, 2023, should attach their latest self-attested photograph, self-declaration in Form No. 1, and any one proof such as Aadhaar Card, Voter›s Card, Passport, Driving License, Service Identity Card with Photograph, Bank or Post Office Passbook with Photograph, PAN Card, Smart Card, RGI card of National Population Registered, MGNREGA Job Card, Health Insurance Smart Card, Pension Document with Photograph, or any official identity proof issued to MP/MLA/MLC.
