In its ongoing campaign to felicitate the farmers at their doorstep which did not set stubble on fire and managed it in alternative ways, the District Administration team visited village Daidi on Monday to honour the environmental-friendly farmers.
Divulging details, the Deputy Commissioner, Mrs Aashika Jain said that the farmers who have contributed wholeheartedly to the environment by managing stubble by honouring the appeals of the district administration with the help of baler machines or other CRM machinery have been given appreciation letters. Today, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Gurmail Singh along with Naib Tehsildar Ravinder Singh felicitated the farmers by giving letters of appreciation at village Daidi.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the new initiative launched by the district administration this time in the district, with which bales of stubble are being made from farmers’ fields through baler machines without charging any money from the concerned farmer has been proving beneficial in the interest of the environment. Till now bales in the area of 20000 acres of agricultural land have been made. She said that earlier farmers had to spend Rs 2000 per acre for making bales with the help of a Baler machine but this time they have not been paying any charges.
She also informed that under the Crop Residue Management Scheme, 140 machines have been purchased so far, which include 99 Super Seeders, 8 Baler Machines, and 16 Surface Seeders. She further said that the administration has been monitoring the daily progress regarding the purchase of machinery. A review meeting is being held by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development), daily, to ensure the purchase of a maximum number of machines.
Dr Gurdial Kumar, Agricultural Development Officer, District SAS Nagar, said that to prevent the burning of paddy stubble and to prepare stubble bales, Kulwinder Singh, baler owner of Sohana village, Karamjit Singh baler owner of Giddarpur village and Amarjit Singh, a farmer of village Desu Majra, are proving instrumental to the administration in managing stubble. They have covered the maximum area of by using balers in the villages of Rajo Majra, Kurali, Hansala, Sohana, Daidi, Bathlana, Saneta etc. in Mohali. On this occasion, Vikram Bedra, Patwari of Daidi village, Panchayat Secretary Amanit Singh Bajwa, Gurdeep Singh Sarpanch of Daidi village, Wajir Singh former Sarpanch of Bathlana village and progressive farmers Samsher Singh, Gursant Singh of Daidi village, Sahib Singh of Gudana village were also present.
