Singer Diljit Dosanjh recently addressed the controversy over his concert tickets being sold in black. During a performance in Indore, he shared his thoughts in a video on Instagram. He also spoke about the rise of independent music and artists, giving a shoutout to fellow musicians Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon.
In the video, Diljit defended himself against accusations of ticket scalping. He said, “For some time, it’s been said in our country, ‘Diljit’s tickets are being sold in black.’ How is it my fault? If someone buys a ₹10 ticket and sells it for ₹100, how is that the artist’s fault?”

Diljit explained that ticket scalping is not a new problem. He added, “Keep accusing me if you want. I don’t fear defamation. There’s no tension. This has been happening since cinema started in India—₹10 tickets sold for ₹20.” He also noted that in the past, singers sang in the background while actors lip-synced, but now, singers have stepped into the spotlight.
Diljit also wished Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon success with their tours. “Two of my brothers, Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon, have started their tours. Best of luck to them,” he said. He added, “This is the time for independent music. Problems will come. When a revolution happens, difficulties follow. But we will keep doing our work.”
Diljit encouraged other independent artists to work even harder. “All independent artists, double your effort. The time for Indian music has come. Earlier, tickets for foreign artists were sold in black; now, it’s happening for Indian artists. This is ‘vocal for local,'” he said.
Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati tour continues with a performance in Chandigarh on December 14. He will conclude his India tour in Guwahati on December 29. AP Dhillon performs in Delhi on December 14, while Karan Aujla will perform in Delhi from December 15-19. Aujla’s tour will also visit Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and other cities, wrapping up in Hyderabad on January 5, 2025.
