The ‘Bhagwant Maan Sarkar Tuhadde Dwar’ scheme was inaugurated by the Punjab government in Ludhiana, introducing a pioneering initiative aiming to deliver 43 essential services directly to citizens’ doorsteps. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who jointly flagged off this transformative program.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hailed the initiative as a revolutionary step forward, expressing regret that it hadn’t been implemented earlier. He emphasized its transformative potential, highlighting how citizens wouldn’t need to endure office visits, long queues, take leaves from work, or engage in bribery anymore.
“In 2018, this initiative started in Delhi, and now it’s launched in Punjab. Only two AAP-ruled states have this because of our commitment to honesty. We don’t endorse bribery, unlike other governments that set targets for departments to collect illicit funds,” Kejriwal emphasized. Commending the people of Punjab for electing an honest government, Kejriwal underscored the integrity and transparency evident in AAP-governed states.
Addressing the gathering, Punjab CM Mann reflected on the concerns of the nation’s martyrs regarding the post-independence state of affairs. “Our martyrs were deeply concerned about the country’s future and the people’s conditions. They didn’t sacrifice for citizens to queue up at government offices and endure poor administration.”
“We’ve taken inspiration from Delhi’s model, now brought to Punjab. People needn’t face office hassles; their work and certificates will come to their doorsteps,” Mann affirmed.
The ‘Bhagwant Maan Sarkar Tuhadde Dwar’ scheme offers a comprehensive range of services encompassing certificates like birth, marriage, death, income, residence, caste, rural area certificates, pension services, electricity bill payments, and land demarcation. Nearly all government services, excluding arms licenses, Aadhaar cards, and stamp papers, will be accessible through this initiative, shared Malwinder Singh Kang, AAP’s Punjab unit chief spokesperson.
Citizens can book appointments via the helpline number ‘1076’, receiving SMS notifications detailing required documents, fees, and other pertinent information. Specially trained personnel equipped with tablets will visit homes or offices at scheduled times to manage paperwork, fees, and issue receipts. Digital certificates will be sent to mobile devices, with hard copies delivered to homes.
“This scheme alleviates the burdens citizens faced while accessing government services. Previously, they endured long office queues; now, they’ll experience the convenience of service delivery at home,” Kang affirmed, highlighting the added benefit of reducing reliance on intermediaries.
