Dhanush’s second directorial venture, “Raayan,” released in theaters last Friday and enjoyed a successful opening weekend. The film, which stars Dhanush alongside Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan, garnered significant attention, amassing a total box office collection of ₹42.65 crore in India over its first three days.

The movie’s earnings steadily increased each day, starting with ₹13.65 crore on the opening day, followed by ₹13.75 crore on Saturday, and peaking at ₹15.25 crore on Sunday. The majority of the collections, ₹33.75 crore, came from Tamil Nadu, with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributing ₹5.65 crore and Karnataka ₹5.45 crore.

On Sunday, which coincided with Dhanush’s birthday, the actor took to social media to express his gratitude towards his fans. He shared a heartfelt note on X (formerly Twitter), thanking the audience, the film fraternity, and his supporters for making the movie a hit. Dhanush referred to the success of “Raayan” as the “best blockbuster birthday gift ever,” showing appreciation for the overwhelming response from fans and well-wishers.

“Raayan” marks Dhanush’s 50th film and follows the story of Kathavaraayan, a hotel owner in Chennai seeking revenge against the gangs that destroyed his family. The film has received positive reviews, including praise from actor Raghava Lawrence, who commended Dhanush’s direction and acting, as well as the performances of the supporting cast and AR Rahman’s music.
