PM Modi: Kashmir Voter Turnout Sends Global Message on Article 370

According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the past four years in Jammu and Kashmir have seen a resurgence of faith in grassroots democracy, with progress, democracy, and dignity taking the place of disappointment, hopelessness, and disillusionment. As a BJP member who has been involved in the issue for many decades, Modi noted in an opinion piece that appeared in several newspapers on Tuesday that he had developed a nuanced understanding of the specifics and complexities involved. The Supreme Court’s ruling upholding the validity of the government’s abrogation of Article 370 was the catalyst for this development.

The prime minister stated that he was adamant that the people of Jammu and Kashmir desire both development and the opportunity to contribute to India’s progress in accordance with their abilities and strengths. They also want a better life for their kids, free from violence and uncertainty, he said, adding that his government prioritized “development, development, and more development” and understood the concerns of the people. It also built trust by acting in a supportive manner.

The Supreme Court’s decision has upheld the principles of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” and served as a reminder that our shared values of unity and good governance are what truly unite us.

“Today, every child in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh is born with a clean canvas, where he or she can paint a future full of vibrant aspirations. Today, the dreams of the people are no longer prisoners of the past but about possibilities for the future. After all, development, democracy and dignity have replaced disillusionment, disappointment and despondency,” he said.

Earlier, he claimed, women, SCs, STs, and other marginalized groups were not given credit while the aspirations of Ladakh were disregarded.
