Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, visited Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Ludhiana to discuss key issues related to the livestock sector, with a particular focus on dairy animals.
During his meeting with Vice-Chancellor Dr. Inderjeet Singh, along with deans, directors, and faculty members, Rouri emphasized the need for breed improvement of dairy animals, especially in the Hoshiarpur district, where livestock rearing and agriculture are the primary occupations.
Rouri urged the university to take a proactive role in organizing awareness and treatment camps in Hoshiarpur. Dr. Inderjeet Singh highlighted the importance of using high-quality semen and best management practices for breed improvement, adding that Embryo Transfer Technology is also crucial for better breeds.
Dr. Singh also briefed Rouri on the university’s academic programs and the value addition of milk into various products, which can enhance the financial status of livestock farmers. He emphasized the university’s goal of developing entrepreneurs with the support of the institution. Rouri also visited the university’s dairy farm, where he praised the herd, sheds, and management practices in place.
