Deputy Chief Minister and State Transport Minister, Premchand Bairwa, assured in the ongoing legislative assembly session on Wednesday that the process of contracting buses under the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) would be completed in the next three months, and new buses be likely to be added to the fleet within the next 6 months.
He mentioned that in the coming 6 months, the state plans to acquire new buses and make them available on the roadways. Specifically, he highlighted the introduction of 12 buses from Dungarpur to Ratanpur via Ahmedabad, currently operational under the Ratnapur Roadways, with facilities for passenger accommodation in Ratanpur. He stated that during the previous government’s tenure, no new buses were introduced in the last five years.
In response to a written question from MLA Ganesh Ghogra, the Transport Minister stated that the RSRTC operates 145 buses in the Dungarpur district. He explained that the procedure for acquiring buses and operating them under RSRTC’s contract is underway. Upon completion of the process, after obtaining five buses on contract, additional buses can be allocated for Dungarpur. The Minister informed that at present, RSRTC operates 12 buses from Dungarpur to Ahmedabad via Ratanpur.
However, there are currently no buses operated by the corporation from Dungarpur to Himmatpur and Dungarpur to Pali Soda. He clarified that the initiation of bus operations for these routes is not under consideration at the moment but will be explored based on the availability of sufficient passengers and resources.
