The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Republic of Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) valued at USD 5 billion to support demining efforts in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Representing the UAE, Mohammed Murad Al Blooshi, UAE Ambassador to Azerbaijan, signed the agreement alongside Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency of Azerbaijan (ANAMA), on behalf of Azerbaijan.
This initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to global humanitarian efforts, building on its history of supporting demining projects in countries such as Iraq, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. Through funding and rehabilitation efforts, the UAE has played a key role in restoring regions impacted by landmines.
The UAE’s collaboration with Azerbaijan reflects its dedication to providing technical and financial assistance to reduce civilian suffering and foster sustainable development. It also highlights the UAE’s broader goal of forging impactful partnerships that enhance humanitarian security and contribute to global sustainability.
