Ties with AAP sparks concerns of UP-like situation for Cong

The Swati Maliwal incident has made the situation stressful for Congress as certain strategies might have put Congress in a trouble. The decision of the Congress high command to form an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seems to have a heavy impact in the elections.
There is a probability that Congress might have to suffer repercussions of forming an alliance with AAP. The outcome of this alliance might be visible in the neighboring Haryana.
Following the altercation involving Maliwal, the situation appears to have undergone a significant transformation. The sympathy card played by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was released on interim bail, doesn’t seem to be working on the ground.
Congress has formed an alliance with AAP in Delhi and Haryana while it is contesting elections against it in Punjab.
In such a situation, the decision taken by the Congress high command regarding Punjab in-charge Devendra Yadav is also being considered ridiculous.
Following the Maliwal incident, both AAP and Congress are facing criticism from the public. The BJP is vigorously targeting Congress alongside AAP. Reports suggest that the I.N.D.I.A bloc may struggle to secure even a single seat in Delhi.
By nominating Kanhaiya Kumar and Udit Raj, the Congress high command not only sparked resentment within the party but also provided ammunition for the opposition’s attacks. Both Udit Raj and Kanhaiya Kumar rose to prominence by criticising Congress, causing discontent within a significant portion of the party.
BJP is leveraging Kanhaiya Kumar’s alleged association with the alleged “Tukde Tukde gang” to assail Congress. Moreover, the cases involving Kanhaiya and Maliwal could potentially influence the upcoming Haryana elections.
There are some other moves taken by the Congress party which seem to be questionable. The appointment of Devendra Yadav, as the state president of Delhi while he is currently serving as Punjab’s in-charge makes no sense at all.
This decision appears questionable considering Yadav’s past record, especially the major defeat the Congress faced under his leadership in Uttarakhand. Instead of holding him responsible, he was given an important position in Punjab.
Yadav’s close ties with organization general secretary KC Venugopal probably helped him rise quickly within the Congress, resulting in him overseeing multiple states. The high command shares responsibility for the current situation in the Delhi Congress.
It can be said that the Congress somehow failed to identify the right faces for the right position, leading to defection of many Congress leaders. Congress has many veterans Like Ajay Maken, Sandeep Dixit, JP Aggarwal, Alka Lamba, Jaikishan, CP Mittal etc. But the party expressed confidence in Lovely and made him the president. This was the initial major error committed by the high command was that Arvinder Singh Lovely, who had left the party and joined BJP.
Following this another blunder was, the alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party had destroyed the Congress in Delhi and Punjab. As a result, Congress members in Delhi became filled with a sense of insecurity, similar to what occurred in Uttar Pradesh in the 1990s.
Similar to the alliance with the BSP back then, Congress members began defecting to other parties, leading to the near decimation of Congress in Uttar Pradesh today. Delhi Congress members feared that in the upcoming assembly elections, the high command would bow to Kejriwal’s influence, with AAP likely allocating only a few seats to Congress out of the 70. Consequently, many leaders, including Lovely, believed it wise to join the BJP, where there is a greater chance of securing a ticket due to a shortage of strong candidates.
The hurried decisions made by Congress indicated a lack of thorough planning by the party’s high command regarding Delhi. Congress failed to recognize that Arvind Kejriwal posed a greater threat to them than Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kejriwal’s alleged involvement in a corruption case related to a liquor scam weakened his party financially. Had this not occurred, Kejriwal might have solely targeted Congress in the Hindi belt without forming any alliances. However, due to the fallout from the liquor scandal, Kejriwal sought the support of the Indi alliance. Congress saw through his intentions. Believing that aligning with Kejriwal would help stem BJP’s advances in some seats in Haryana and Delhi, Congress decided to join forces with him.

The thinking of congress in doing this math is beyond comprehension. If Kejriwal accidentally wins two-three seats in Delhi and one seat in Haryana, then he will definitely dominate Congress. Right now Congressmen are leaving Congress in Delhi. Within days the same situation will arise in Haryana also. Congress formed an alliance to defeat Prime Minister Modi, but did not take into account the plight in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Today, small parties like RJD and SP run Congress in both the states. The interesting thing is that Congress will clash with AAP in Punjab. Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav will hail AAP party in Delhi till May 25 and then in Punjab from May 26. I will speak ill of you. This is also a joke. If the party had to make Devendra the president of Delhi, then it could have given the charge of Punjab to someone else. Venugopal could have kept Punjab with himself till the elections. But what to think. It is the Congressmen who are upset over the decision taken on Punjab and Delhi.

After the Maliwal incident, along with AAP, Congress is also being targeted by the common people. Along with AAP, BJP is also fiercely attacking Congress. According to the reports coming in, Indi alliance will hardly be able to win even a single seat in Delhi. Delhi by giving tickets to Kanhaiya Kumar and Udit Raj, the Congress high command not only created resentment in the party but also gave an opportunity to the opposition to attack. Udit Raj and Kanhaiya Kumar are those leaders who have become leaders by criticizing the Congress. A big section is already angry. BJP is attacking Congress over Kanhaiya Kumar’s Tukde Tukde gang. The case involving Kanhaiya and Maliwal can also have an impact on Haryana elections, which is not in the interest of Congress
