The Delhi Police Crime Branch’s anti-gangster squad has apprehended Surinder Malik and Vikas Chauhan, the masterminds behind a fake medicine nexus in Delhi-NCR. Eight additional suspects were also arrested in connection with the illicit operation.
The arrests led to the seizure of counterfeit medicines valued at crores, uncovering two medicine manufacturing units – one in Saharanpur and a godown in Rajinder Nagar, Ghaziabad.

Additional CP Crime, Sanjay Bhatia, disclosed that the Crime Branch received intel regarding the circulation of fake medicines in Delhi-NCR, prompting the formation of specialised teams to apprehend the culprits.
The first team intercepted an ECCO van under Tilak Bridge, New Delhi, containing a substantial quantity of spurious medicines, including fake Ultracet, Amaryl 1M, Gluconorm, and Defcort tablets.

Upkar and Jasdeep, found with the van, were arrested on the spot.
During interrogation, Upkar revealed the counterfeit nature of the medicines and disclosed their sources. Abdul Bashit from Geeta Colony was identified as the primary source for Ultracet tablets, while Vikas was linked to the other medicines. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Mukesh Chand from Uttam Nagar, with more counterfeit medicines discovered at his residence. The third team arrested Abdul Bashit, Parvez, and Daniyal Ali, with Parvez found in possession of 5,700 fake Ultracet tablets.
