Delhi has reported its highest-ever single-day spike of 4,039 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday. This is the first time that the daily coronavirus tally in the national capital has crossed the 4,000- mark. With the fresh spike in infections, Delhi’s caseload has crossed the 2-lakh mark.

 The previous record for the highest single-day jump in Delhi was on 26 June when 3,460 Covid-19 cases were reported.

Meanwhile, with 89,706 cases being recorded in the last twenty-four hours, India’s Covid tally is pushed to 43,70,128. The death count has risen to 73,890 with 1,115 more fatalities. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Delhi. India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 77.8 percent, 33,98,844 patients recovered from the infection in the country.

In Uttar Pradesh sixty-six more people died of Covid-19, pushing the death toll to 4,112, while 6,711 fresh cases took the state’s infection tally to 2,85,041. The total number of active coronavirus cases in the state now stands at 64,028.

Haryana reported 2,294 new Covid-19 cases and 28 deaths in last twenty-four hours, taking the total number of cases to 83,353 including 882 deaths. There are 17,328 active cases.

Punjab’s Covid-19 tally rises to 69,684, including 2061 deaths and 50,558 cured patients. Active cases stand at 17,065.

Uttarakhand recorded 1061 Covid-19 cases in last twenty-four hours, taking the total tally of the state to 27,211, including 372 deaths and 18,262 recoveries.

Gujarat’s coronavirus tally rose to 1,08,295 with the addition of 1,329 new cases. With 16 fatalities, the deaths rose to 3,152. As many as 1,336 patients were discharged during the day, which pushed the number of recovered cases to 88,815.

Jammu and Kashmir recorded its highest single-day spike of 1,617 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, taking the union territory’s infection tally to 47,542.

 In the highest single day spike so far in Kerala, 3,402 COVID-19 cases were reported in last twenty-four hours, taking the infection count to 95,916 while the deaths climbed to 384 with 12 fatalities.

Karnataka reported a spike of 9,540 new Covid-19 cases and 128 deaths in the last 24 hours. There are 4,21,730 cases in the State now, including 3,15,433 discharges and 99,470 active cases.

Andhra Pradesh continues to record more than 10 thousand cases in a singleday. The state recorded a spike of 10,418 new Covid-19 positive cases in last twenty four hours. Total number of cases now at 5,27,512 including 97,271 active cases, 4,25,607 recoveries and 4,634 deaths.

 West Bengal reported 3,107 new Covid-19 cases and 53 deaths in last twenty-four hours. Meanwhile, 2,967 patients got discharged from different hospitals across the state. The total cases in the state now stand at 1,90,063, including 3,730 deaths and 1,62,992 discharged patients. Active cases in the state have reached the mark of 23,341.
