In a proactive late-night operation focused on ensuring safety during New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Delhi Traffic Police executed a comprehensive crackdown on traffic violations, resulting in the apprehension of hundreds of offenders from midnight until the stroke of twelve.
Taking swift and decisive action, the police apprehended 495 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, 132 motorists were caught driving on the wrong side of the road. The campaign also addressed reckless driving, leading to the prosecution of 47 individuals for endangering themselves and other road users. In a move to discourage repeat offences, the licenses of 347 violators were confiscated for disregarding traffic rules.
The crackdown extended to vehicles with illegal tinted glass, with 117 instances leading to penalties. Parking violations were also a focus, with 3452 cases of improper parking resulting in fines or towing. A total of 613 vehicles were towed away for obstructing traffic flow or violating parking regulations.
The operation further targeted e-rickshaw drivers, with 566 individuals facing action for various violations, ensuring responsible and safe usage of these vehicles.
The late-night operation underscores the commitment of Delhi Traffic Police to maintaining road safety and curbing traffic violations, particularly during festive occasions. The stringent measures aim to create a safer environment on the capital’s roads and deter individuals from engaging in reckless or dangerous behaviour.
