Nitin Verma, aged 42, wanted in connection with three murders including that of his wife due to an extramarital affair, has finally been apprehended by Delhi Police after evading arrest for over a decade.

Verma had initially been arrested in 2008 for the brutal murders of his pregnant wife and his parents in Palam Village, Delhi. He later absconded while on parole in 2009, subsequently becoming a fugitive. The murders, committed with a sharp-edged weapon, shocked the community as the victims were found fatally wounded in their home, soaked in blood.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Amit Goel, recounted the details of the case, stating that Verma had orchestrated the murders to conceal his illicit relationship. Verma had initially misled investigators by feigning an assault on himself after the killings.

Despite being sentenced to life imprisonment, Verma managed to escape police custody during his parole period. Over the years, he continuously changed locations, mobile phones, and SIM cards to evade capture. Recent technical analysis pinpointed his location to Guwahati, Assam, where a dedicated police team successfully apprehended him.

Goel highlighted that Verma, despite his education up to class 12, had a history of failed business ventures and was attempting to set up a business even in Guwahati. The arrest brings closure to a long-standing pursuit by law enforcement, culminating in Verma’s detention after his prolonged evasion tactics.

The Delhi Police expressed satisfaction with the arrest, emphasizing their persistence in tracking down Verma despite his efforts to remain elusive. Verma is expected to face justice for the heinous crimes he committed over a decade ago.

The case serves as a reminder of the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies to bring fugitives to justice, ensuring accountability for serious criminal offenses.
