Delhi has plans to develop the tourism industry as well as create a sustainable e-waste management eco-park in the city to remanufacture e-waste. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has stated during a press conference that the government has approved the Delhi Film Policy 2022 to promote and strengthen the tourism industry, the economy, and employment creation through films.
The new film policy will be inclusive in nature; it will provide Rs 3 crore as a subsidy for production activities and shooting. The objective of the policy is to promote the city and to create more opportunities for semi-skilled workers in tourism. Focussing on its inclusive nature, this policy will develop a single-window e-film clearance portal that will bring over 25 agencies together that will play a role in clearing various permissions related to film production within 15 days. This portal will have the facilities of e-payment and e-application so that the filmmakers do not have to wait long for permission.
Speaking about providing subsidies to the producers, Sisodia said that a 50-crore Delhi Film Fund would be established. The subsidy will be provided on the basis of several factors, such as the number of shooting days in Delhi, the content branding of Delhi, working hours, the number of local artists, the skilled crew employed, and so forth. Also, producers holding a Delhi Film Card will receive several discounts and benefits. He has expressed that this progressive policy will develop an inclusive model focusing on employment and the promotion of the city in terms of tourism. Delhi will also conduct the Delhi International Film Festival every year, along with film excellence awards for lower-level staff.
He also spoke about setting up the first unique e-waste management eco park to remanufacture e-waste. The eco park will be stretched out on 20 acres of land, taking care of the environmental, scientific, and economic structures. Every year, Delhi generates 2 lakh tonnes of e-waste, and the establishment of an eco park to recycle this waste will assist in reducing ecological damage.
