In a disturbing revelation from New Delhi, Premoday Khakha, a senior government official previously serving in the Women and Child Development Department, is facing allegations of multiple sexual assaults on a teenage girl whom he had promised protection after her father’s demise. The vulnerable teen, tragically left without her father in 2020, was allegedly exploited by Khakha, a family acquaintance she endearingly referred to as ‘mama’ (uncle).
These heinous acts began shortly after the teen moved to Khakha’s residence in Burari. Sources state that not only was she drugged before each traumatic encounter, but she also reported waking up with physical injuries. The teenager’s trauma was compounded by the loss of her father, leading to a deteriorating mental health marked by frequent panic attacks. This twin ordeal might have contributed to her initial silence regarding Khakha’s actions.
The teenager’s grim experiences surfaced only recently during a counselling session at a Delhi hospital, highlighting the devastating psychological effects of such crimes. She is currently undergoing therapy to navigate the scars left by the abuse from someone she considered a guardian.
Premoday Khakha’s initial stance has been one of denial. Having been suspended and arrested, he maintains his innocence. His wife, Seema Khakha, faces her own set of charges, having allegedly procured abortion pills for the victim after a resultant pregnancy. Their actions have ignited political tensions, with Delhi’s Chief Minister and the Delhi Commission for Women expressing outrage at the handling of the case and demanding swift justice.
