NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi Police to explain the recent arrest of NewsClick founder, Prabir Purkayastha, and the head of its human resources department, Amit Chakravarty. Both were detained under the anti-terror law, UAPA. Justice Tushar Rao Gedela also requested a response regarding the plea for the interim release of the two individuals. The case will be reviewed again on October 9. The arrest, executed by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell on October 3, has led to the sealing of NewsClick’s Delhi office. Allegations suggest the media portal received funds to circulate pro-China narratives.
