The Delhi High Court issued notice on Friday for a suit seeking an injunction filed by Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh against YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh. Gurmeet Ram Rahim is seeking a directive for the removal of a video uploaded by Singh.

A vacation bench, presided over by Justice Shailender Kaur, issued notice on the petition filed by Ram Rahim against Shyam Meera Singh and scheduled the matter for a hearing on Saturday. Ram Rahim has also requested a direction for Shyam Meera Singh to delete the contentious video.

The allegation is that Singh, the respondent, uploaded a video on YouTube titled ‘How Ram Rahim made a fool of his followers,’ on December 17. Prior to approaching the High Court, a legal notice was served upon Singh. However, despite this, Singh refused to remove the video, as submitted by the counsel.

Ram Rahim’s counsel argued before the bench that the video in question is defamatory and disparaging. The counsel further contended that Singh is a habitual offender, citing an FIR lodged against him in Uttar Pradesh for insulting the UP Chief Minister. The counsel claimed that Singh was previously associated with a news channel from which he was terminated.
Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim is currently serving a jail term for rape.
