In a major development related to Delhi’s excise policy case, Delhi HC dismissed the bail petition of BRS leader K Kavitha in cases registered by both CBI and ED on Monday.
This judgement was given today by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma. Earlier, the court had reserved its order on May 28 after hearing both ED and K Kavitha.
As per Kavitha’s counsel’s submission, Kavitha owing to her gender needs to consider her bail plea as the law keeps woman on a different pedestal.
While both ED and CBI on the other hand were against her bail emphasizing, that she can potentially influence witnesses.
Also, responding on woman clause, the agencies also contended, that a woman is playing a crucial role in this conspiracy and being an active politician, she cannot be kept at a same pedestal with that of vulnerable woman.
Meanwhile, K Kavitha is one of the politicians who was arrested in Delhi excise policy case, as she was a member of ‘South Group’, who allegedly paid AAP kickbacks of Rs 100 crore in exchange for bigger share in liquor licences in Delhi.
