Delhi: AAP MLA Jai Bhagwan Upkar Booked For Allegedly Assaulting MCD Officials

According to the FIR, the incident occurred when MCD official Sunil Kumar Ranga, along with his team, raided illegal slaughterhouses in the Shahbad Dairy area.

The Delhi Police registered an FIR on Wednesday against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jai Bhagwan Upkar for allegedly assaulting an official of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) during an inspection at a meat house in Shahbad Dairy.

According to the FIR, the incident occurred when MCD official Sunil Kumar Ranga, along with his team, raided illegal slaughterhouses in the Shahbad Dairy area. Delhi Police reported that the MLA had an altercation with the MCD employee and began misbehaving.

The MCD official filed a complaint under several sections, including BNS sections 221/132/352/351(2)/325/3(5)/190/191(2)/121(1), as well as the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

“The officials asked the shop owner, Gul Mohammad, to pay a compensation fee of Rs 37,500, based on Rs 2,500 per goat. However, he refused to pay and instead called his workers and issued threats against the MCD team,” the FIR stated.

The complainant further mentioned in the FIR that AAP MLA Jai Bhagwan Upkar, along with former councillor Shraddhanan and others, arrived at the scene, leading to a verbal and physical altercation.

Further investigations are currently underway.
