Thirty foreign nationals, according to officials, were deported from Delhi’s Dwarka neighbourhood on Thursday.
The foreigners were apprehended in a joint operation by the teams of AATS, Anti-Narcotics Cell, PS Uttam Nagar, and PS Mohan Garden, Dwarka District, under the general direction of DCP Dwarka, as part of the ongoing crackdown on foreign nationals who are residing there illegally. Of the 30 people deported, 27 had Nigerian citizenship, two had Ivory Coast citizenship, and one was an Ivoirienne national.
“They were found overstaying in India without a valid visa. They were produced before the FRRO, which ordered for their deportation. Accordingly, they have been sent to the detention centre,” read an official statement.
On October 29, India deported eight Bangladeshi citizens who had entered the country without proper documentation to Bangladesh earlier that day.
Eight citizens of Bangladesh, including one woman, were deported by the authorities across the international border crossing at Sutarkandi in Assam’s Karimganj district.
The Bangladeshi nationals had arrived in India at several points in Assam without proper documentation.
The Bangladeshi nationals were detained at detention facilities in the Cachar, Karimganj, and Kamrup districts of the state after being detained at various locations throughout the state in recent years.
The Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Mohir Uddin, Mohammad Bdul Motin, Farid Alom alias Akash, Atabur Rahman, Faima Begum alias Faima, and Md. Rahim Mia alias Firdaus.
