DC Srinagar chairs meeting to enhance recovery of outstanding GST as arrears of land revenue

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, chaired a meeting at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the progress in recovering outstanding Goods and Services Tax (GST) as Arrears of Land Revenue. The meeting focused on initiating proceedings against wilful defaulters to strengthen the recovery mechanism.
Key attendees included Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Recovery, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Superintendent of Police Arif Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Syed Ahmad Kataria, Chief Planning Officer Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Special Tehsildar Recovery Dr Irtiza, Tehsildar South Moean Azahar Kakroo, Tehsildar Chanpora Saqib Saleem, Tehsildar Shalteng Kaiser Ahmad, and other relevant officials.
During the meeting, DC Srinagar meticulously reviewed the status of each case related to the recovery of outstanding GST as Arrears of Land Revenue from Tehsildars. Discussions also centered on formulating a robust course of action against defaulters to efficiently recover outstanding GST arrears under the Land Revenue Act.
Emphasizing the need to fortify the recovery mechanism, the DC urged officers to ensure financial resources are appropriately utilized and available for fair distribution among genuine stakeholders. He directed all Tehsildars to furnish details of immovable property owned by defaulters, facilitating legal actions as per the law.
Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Recovery informed the DC that wilful defaulters owe an outstanding amount of Rs 39.45 crore. Seeking support from the District Administration for timely recovery, he proposed the initiation of legal proceedings against defaulters to recover the said amount.
