Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat, inaugurated a transformative ten-day digital awareness program for fifty students from Parisha and Palaash-Child Care Institutions.

The initiative falls under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan, a visionary scheme aimed at enhancing digital literacy among rural populations across States and Union Territories.

The core objective is to equip citizens in rural areas with essential digital skills, enabling proficient operation of computers, tablets, and smartphones. Participants will learn to navigate the digital landscape, perform tasks like email communication, internet browsing, accessing government services, seeking information, and conducting digital payments.

The inclusive approach targets marginalized groups including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), minorities, individuals below the poverty line (BPL), women, and persons with disabilities. By leveraging Information Technology, especially digital payment mechanisms, the scheme aims to foster active rural participation in nation-building.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized digital literacy’s role in socio-economic advancement, particularly for marginalized segments. He urged participants to engage wholeheartedly, recognizing the program’s potential to uplift communities and enhance access to digital opportunities. The initiative not only empowers individuals to utilize digital platforms but also fosters their active participation in the socio-economic fabric of the nation.

The inauguration marks a pivotal step towards a digitally inclusive society. Through sustained efforts and collaboration, initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan are realizing the vision of a digitally empowered India.
DSWO Abdul Raheem, TSWO, and officials of the Social Welfare Department were present at the ceremony, demonstrating collective commitment towards digital empowerment.
