As per the commitment made by the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to the Industrial Associations in the Sarkar-Sanyatkar Milni, to renovate the Derabassi-Barwala road’s stretch starting to Punjab soon, the work has been started on the 7.20 KM long stretch, said DC Aashika Jain, here, today.
Taking stock of the ongoing work at Derbassi, today, she said that the estimated amount of the repair and strengthening work has been pegged at Rs 19.4 Core. The repair and renovation would include a 5 KM long drain along the road, the raising of reaches (rising of ground level) at three stretches of a total of 1.25 KMs, replacement of a damaged bridge across the road besides patchwork of potholed parts before laying 50 MM of BC.
She said that besides interstate connectivity of this road, industry across the road and having residences of air force personnel, the road has too much importance and needs renovation as it was repaired eight years ago. The Deputy Commissioner accompanied by the SDM Derabassi Himanshu Gupta, asked the Executive Engineer PWD (National Highways) Yuvraj Singh Bindra to ensure the proper monitoring of the renovation project of the road by adhering to all the specifications strictly.
She added that the District Administration would not face any difficulty for the residents and it would be taken care of their problems well. She asked the SDM to make sure the disposal water of local shops to the sewer line across the road by directing the local municipal council.
