The Women and Child Development Department organised the quarterly review meeting of the district task force committee in the auditorium of the Mini Secretariat, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan. The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need for improved coordination among concerned departments.

DPO Aaru Vashishtha presented progress reports on various schemes, including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Nutrition Campaign, Play School, Child Protection, One Stop Centre, and Domestic Violence, to the Deputy Commissioner. It was highlighted that Panchkula district ranks second in the state in terms of sex ratio. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandan Yojana, a lump sum amount of Rs 6,000 is provided to the mother of a girl child for ensuring good health and a proper diet on the birth of a second girl child. The Deputy Commissioner urged for concerted efforts to make the district the leader in gender ratio through awareness campaigns conducted in collaboration with the Women and Child Development Department and the Health Department.

Referring to the Chief Minister’s announcements, the Deputy Commissioner noted the existence of 47 play schools in the district. He stressed the need for improved infrastructure in these schools, emphasizing play, physical activity, and primary education for children. The Deputy Commissioner instructed concerned departments to enhance the quality of these schools, pledging personal inspections and a zero-tolerance policy for negligence.
