Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain announced the expenditure of Rs 384 lakhs to enhance infrastructure in Government Schools, emphasizing the need for timely completion of the ongoing works during a review meeting today. She directed educational officials to expedite the pending projects to ensure optimal fund utilization in the current financial year.
Breaking down the expenses, DC Aashika Jain specified that Rs 80.12 lakh had been allocated for minor repair works under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Additionally, 12 CWSN toilets were constructed at a cost of Rs 18.54 lakh. To address the need for separate facilities, 70 units of boys’ toilets were built for Rs 49 lakh, and 55 units of girls’ toilets were established with an expenditure of Rs 38.50 lakh.
Furthermore, NABARD granted Rs 774 lakh for 198 units, of which Rs 699 lakh has been utilized for completing 173 units, while 25 units are still in progress with an expenditure of Rs 37.9 lakh. In terms of educational resources, DC Jain informed that 926,583 books were distributed free of cost to primary and upper primary schools in the district this year. The primary section received 295,752 books, while the upper primary section received 630,831 books. Additionally, Rs 302.82 lakh was spent on providing uniforms to 50,470 students, including 37,910 girls, 11,499 SC students, and 1,061 BPL students. DC Aashika Jain highlighted the success of bringing 299 out-of-school children back to school during the out-of-school children survey. Regarding the infrastructure upgrade of Schools of Eminence, DC Jain mentioned that Government Model Senior Secondary School Kharar achieved 90 percent of its target, and 40 percent of the work at Government Senior Secondary School Derabasai has been completed.
