A day after Bharath Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Keshava Rao joined Congress, he resigned as Rajya Sabha MP on Thursday.
Rao on Thursday sent his resignation to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.
In his letter to the Chairman, Rao wrote, “I hereby submit my resignation from Membership of Rajya Sabha.”
The development comes a day after he joined the Congress in presence.of party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, party leader Rahul Gandhi, general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal, Telangana incharge Deepa Das Munshi and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
After Rao joined the Congress, Kharge in a post on X on Wednesday wrote, “Worthy homecoming! We welcome senior leader, K. Keshava Rao ji to the Congress party.
“We are confident that his vast experience in public service will strengthen the Congress party in Telangana,” Kharge had written.
In the last few months, several of the BRS leaders had joined the Congress, where the party had ousted the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS government in Telangana.
The Congress made a thumping comeback in the southern state for the first time after its formation in 2014.
