On Monday, four men were apprehended for reportedly kidnapping a woman from Darjeeling and subjecting her to three months of gang rape in the city. According to the victim’s statement to the authorities, Zeprine Khalko, also known as Arun Kumar, lured her from her hometown to Gurgaon under the pretense of securing her a job in a company.
She said she came to the city in November and stayed with Arun at a room rented by him in Chakkarpur as she did not have a place to live in. After a few days, she said, Arun and three of his friends — Ishuraj, Sumer and Ahmraj — gangraped her.
She managed to escape and reached out to another person, and then informed the cops. According to a complaint, the woman reached out to another person while trying to escape, and then informed the cops.
Sector 29 police station in-charge Rishikant said on Wednesday that a case has been registered against the four named accused under sections 376D (gangrape) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code.
“The case is under investigation,” he said.
