The IMD predicts that the sea near the beaches of Saurashtra and Kutch will likely be extremely turbulent until the evening of Wednesday and high to phenomenal until the evening of Thursday before reverting to normal.
Gujarat’s coastal districts are prepared for any possible catastrophe from Biporjoy cyclone.
The State Emergency Operation Center’s districts participated in a video conference with the Chief Minister, Shri Bhupendra Patel, on June 11 to assess the situation. Strategies have been prearranged to combat the destruction.
The district administrations have made all necessary preparations to deal with this potential disaster; including securing shelters, keeping boats anchored safely along the coast, stocking up on supplies of medicine, having a quick disposal plan in place for dead animals, and setting up health services so that expectant mothers won’t experience any difficulties giving birth in the event of a storm. The state government has coordinated the assistance of Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and Army if required during this potential disaster and these agencies are also on standby for disaster management.
