A 34-year-old resident of south Mumbai found himself in custody after Customs officials at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport apprehended him for allegedly attempting to smuggle gold from abroad by hiding it in his undergarments.
Ahmed Khan, residing on Kambekar Street in south Mumbai, was caught on Friday night as he attempted to pass through the Green Channel and exit the airport. Upon inspection, he was found to have concealed 3.7 kg of gold worth Rs 1.88 crore in wax form within four pouches. Khan now faces charges under the Customs Act.
