The 105th senate meeting took place on Tuesday at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) in Chandigarh. Chaired by Director Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia, various crucial agendas pertaining to the institute were deliberated during the session.
Key Agenda Highlights:

New UG Curriculum Scheme: The Senate members approved the introduction of a new Undergraduate Curriculum Scheme for a Minor Degree Program with 18 Credits. Aligned with the provisions of the New Education Policy (NEP 2020) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the curriculum emphasizes Research & Innovation, Flexible UG Programs, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), and the incorporation of Vocational Education and Internships.

B.Design Curriculum Approval: Following the NEP 2020 guidelines, the Senate members also gave their approval for the curriculum of the Undergraduate Program in B.Design.
B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing: The proposal for a new Undergraduate Program, B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing, received approval. This four-year program, commencing from the academic year 2024-25, will cover various topics in mathematics and computer science, including mathematical modeling, computational algorithms, data structures, and programming languages.

Master’s in Business and Data Analytics (MB&DA): The Senate sanctioned the initiation of a new Postgraduate Level Program, MB&DA, from the academic year 2024-25. This two-year program aims to equip graduates with analytics and critical thinking skills, leadership capabilities, and business acumen, combining technology with business studies.

M.Tech in Quantum Materials and Technology: The Senate members approved the commencement of the Postgraduate Program in M.Tech in Quantum Materials and Technology from the academic year 2024-25.

The decisions made during the meeting signify a significant step towards enhancing the academic offerings and aligning the institute with contemporary educational standards.
