Arshdeep Singh is experiencing vicious trolling after failing to make a catch during the thrilling T20 match between India and Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai. In the Asia Cup match, which Pakistan won with five wickets and one ball remaining, the 24-year-old medium pacer from Mohali, Punjab, made a vital error. The cricketer has been cruelly ridiculed online for missing the catch, with some social media users holding him responsible for the defeat.

Twitter has been flooded with memes trolling the cricketer. Most of the trollers have been identified as Pakistani users attempting to defame the Indian cricket team.

Many Indian users came out in support of the bowler, igniting a verbal battle on Twitter.

One of the users wrote, “He is the best. One mistake doesn’t mean that you are Anti-National #ArshdeepSingh,” a user wrote. “One match doesn’t decide a cricketer’s potentiality.”

“India comes before Cricket.I reject Pak propaganda and stand with Arshdeep Singh.#IndiawithArshdeep,” wrote another.

One of the fan tweeted, “Stop criticising young @arshdeepsinghh No one drop the catch purposely..we are proud of our boys.. Pakistan played better.. shame on such people who r putting our own guys down by saying cheap things on this platform about Arsh and team.. Arsh is GOLD.”

Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, the minister of education for Punjab, has expressed support for Indian cricketer. In a message of solidarity to the cricketer’s mother, the minister told her over the phone, “If you are given the ball in the death overs, then it signifies that the skipper trusts you. Everyone has their good and bad days. Sports should be treated like it is. He has performed in every game. You and me will go to receive him at the airport.”
