Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has swiftly responded to the detection of the JN.1 variant of Coronavirus in the state by directing health authorities to establish a task force. Shinde emphasized the importance of preventive measures, urging citizens to wear masks and undergo Covid-19 tests for symptoms like cold, cough, and fever.
He stated, “Ensure the availability of oxygen plants, ventilators, RT-PCR labs, and vaccines. The health machinery should set up a task force to take guidance from the experts.”
Reviewing the state’s preparedness, Shinde added, “The country has faced the Covid-19 challenge under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state is ready to face any eventuality, learning from the example of the past. The people need not fear. We appeal to them to get tested in case of cough, cold, and fever and use masks at public places during the celebration of festivals and the new year.”
Shinde urged district collectors and health officials to conduct audits of health establishments and ensure the readiness of isolation and oxygen beds.
