India recorded its biggest single-day spike with over 40,000 new coronavirus cases. The total number of coronaivrus cases in the country has reached 1,119,412. India’s southern state Karnataka became the new hotspot with state touching close to 65,000 cases. Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state, with 3,10,455 cases and 11,854 casualties followed by Tamil Nadu with total 1,70,693 cases, and 2,481 deaths. Delhi remained the third worst-hit city in the country with 1,22,793 cases so far and 3,628 fatalities. 

Maharashtra’s covid-19 tally rose to 3,18,695 with the addition of 8,240 new cases, while the toll crossed the 12,000-mark. With 176 new deaths in last 24 hours, the state’s fatality count increased to 12,030. A total of 5,460 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recovered persons to 1,75,029. There are 1,31,334 active cases in the state at present

 Delhi recorded the lowest cases in last one month with 954 new coronavirus positive cases, 1784 patients got recovered and 35 deaths were reported in last twentyfour hours. The total number of positive cases now rises to 1,23,747 including 1,04,918 recovered patients and 3,663 deaths so far.

Andhra Pradesh reported 4,074 fresh infection and 54 deaths in last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 53,724 and toll to 696. Over 24,000 persons have been discharged till date and the state now has 28,800 active cases.

West Bengal recorded the highest single day spike in new positive cases with 2282 and total cases amounted to 44,769.  Active cases today were recorded at 17,204.  The state registered 35 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total deaths in the state stands at 1147. Kolkata remains largest contributor to fresh cases and deaths. 

 Jammu and Kashmir reported 751 new coronavirus positive cases in last 24 hours, 240 from Jammu division and 511 from Kashmir division. Total number of cases stand at 14,650. Death toll rises to 254 after 10 deaths were reported in one day.

Haryana reported the recoveries of 433 patients, the overall numbers recoveries of Covid-19 patients in Haryana reached 20,226, even as 694 new patients and six deaths took Haryana’s Covid tally and death toll to 26,858 cases and 355 deaths respectively.
