A Delhi court summoned BJP MP and outgoing WFI chairman Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Friday in a case of alleged sexual harassment of female wrestlers, ruling that there was enough evidence to proceed against the accused.
Brij Bhushan was ordered to appear in court on July 18 after Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal took cognizance of the charge-sheet. Vinod Tomar, the suspended assistant secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India, was also summoned by the court.
Brij Bhushan, a six-time MP, was charged on June 15 under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with purpose to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Tomar was charged with violating Sections 109 (abetting any offence if the act abetted is performed as a result and no specific provision is made for its punishment), 354, 354A, and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
