MUMBAI: A sessions court in Mumbai has rejected the bail plea of a 29-year-old individual hailing from Punjab, who stands accused of attempting to travel to the United Kingdom using fraudulent documents. Jobanjit Singh, apprehended by the Sahar police, purportedly paid Rs 12 lakh to an agent to procure counterfeit educational certificates and migration documents. According to court records, on October 6, while Singh was at the Mumbai airport, immigration officials scrutinized his documents. They discovered that his passport held a Youth Mobility Scheme migrant visa. Singh’s responses regarding his UK visit apparently raised suspicion, as did the forged educational qualifications he presented. Officials alleged that he had illicitly obtained a UK visa based on these fabricated documents, resulting in the police filing charges under sections of forgery and cheating in the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
