A 30-year-old man named Binder Singh and a 20-year-old woman named Harmandeep Kaur, tragically took their lives in a government school washroom in Punjab’s Faridkot district. The pair, involved in a relationship, was discovered by a school sweeper early on Friday morning.
The grim scene unfolded when the sweeper noticed a motorcycle parked outside the school. Upon entering and proceeding to clean the restroom, the discovery of two bodies shocked him. Promptly, he contacted local panchayat members, who then alerted the authorities, including the police.
Harmandeep Kaur was reportedly still breathing when the police arrived, but both individuals were rushed to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot, where they were later pronounced deceased.
A message, inscribed on the wall using lipstick, contained the words “My village is Kanjhla” alongside three mobile numbers. Their Aadhaar cards were recovered, revealing Binder Singh hailed from Kanjhla village in Sangrur district, while Harmandeep Kaur belonged to Kaleke village in Barnala district. Despite their relationship, Binder Singh was already married, as confirmed by Gurvinder Singh, the station house officer at Sadar police station in Faridkot.
Further investigation revealed no monetary possessions except for their Aadhaar cards and a diary that detailed their relationship, according to local sources.
Senior Superintendent of Police Harjit Singh of Faridkot emphasized the need to understand why the couple traveled to Faridkot, considering their origins in different districts of Punjab. Authorities intend to gather information from the parents as part of the ongoing inquiry into this tragic incident.
