A dispute arose at the fair commemorating Baba Deep Singh Ji’s birth anniversary in Tarn Taran, Punjab, over the inclusion of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s photograph. Sikh organizations gathered and caused a commotion after a video of the display went viral on social media. According to allegations from these groups, the controversial photo was put up by youth servicing the shoes and was later taken down by the Gurudwara Management Committee, leading to heightened tension. Upon learning of the situation, a significant police presence was deployed to the area.
During this, the mob attacked the car of Colonel Harsimran Singh, associated with the Gurudwara Management committee. Vandalized the car. Not only this, the angry mob also attacked SHO Parvinder Singh. Who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Harpal Singh of SAD Amritsar and Bhai Harjeet Singh of Satkar Committee said that this is a condemnable act. The administration should take action against them otherwise the next action will be taken after discussing this matter with Sikh organizations.
Gurdwara Management Committee manager Prabhjot Singh said that he had asked the youth not to put Bhindranwale’s photo at the shoes area. He did not say any bad words. The youth distorted the video and made it viral. Police have called both the parties yesterday to resolve the dispute.
Some youths who had come to the fair to tie the shoes of the devotees put the picture of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in the pandal. Gurdwara Committee managers Prabhjot Singh and Colonel Harsimran Singh said that they had asked the youth not to put Bhindranwale’s photo at the shoe rack and not to put up tents on the road without the permission of the committee.
This video was distorted and made viral on social media. Due to which the Sikh Sangat got angry at the management committee of Gurdwara Sahib. He said that the facts have been tampered with in the viral video on social media. He appealed to the devotees to apologize if they have been hurt by this video.
Regarding this matter, when the leaders of Sikh organizations came out after submitting a memorandum to SHO Parvinder Singh, who was on duty inside Gurdwara Sahib during the fair, an angry mob attacked them. The car in which Colonel Harsimran Singh was traveling was vandalized. The mob injured Colonel Harsimran Singh and the police officer. Regarding this matter, Bhikhiwind DSP Preetinder Singh said that considering the sensitivity of this matter, he will call both the parties tomorrow and clear all the misunderstandings. He has appealed to all Sikhs to remain calm.
From Tarn Taran, Shiromani Akali Dal President Harpal Singh Baler and Honor Committee leader Bhai Ranjit Singh Udoke have demanded action.
The leaders said that in the video, the management committee of Gurdwara Sahib giving away its personal property to Gurdwara Sahib is also highly condemnable.
The leaders said that a complaint will be given to the administration regarding the bad behavior of the management committee. If the administration does not take any action by tomorrow then they will talk to all the Sikh organizations and take the next step.
