As the US presidential election approaches, Indian-American Congressman Shri Thanedar emphasized the diversity within the Indian-American community and encouraged voters to thoroughly examine both candidates. Speaking in Michigan, Thanedar acknowledged that while a majority of Indian-Americans lean toward the Democratic Party, the community is not monolithic and holds varied views on social, economic, and immigration issues.

Thanedar highlighted what he called a stark contrast between the candidates, stating, “There is a night and day difference between them.” He pointed to Vice President Kamala Harris as a champion for democracy and women’s rights, while criticizing former President Donald Trump for what he described as past “hateful” rhetoric toward immigrants, and policies favoring wealthy individuals and large corporations.

Thanedar’s remarks come as both political parties vie for support from Indian-American voters, a demographic known for high engagement and turnout.
