The special session of the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday witnessed a total ruckus in the Punjab Assembly when Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced he was bringing a confidence motion.
After members of Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party opposed the move, the proceedings of the house were adjourned for 10 minutes. When the ruckus continued even after the break, the speaker ordered Marshall to evict the Congress members from the House, but the latter refused to come out of the house and sat in their respective seats.

BJP MLAs Ashwani Sharma and Jangilal Mahajan staged a walkout from the house in protest against the confidence motion brought by Bhagwant Mann. At the same time, Leader of Opposition and Congress MLA Partap S. Bajwa said that bringing a confidence motion is a challenge to the powers of the Governor. He said that there was no legal provision to do this. The Akali Dal members also strongly opposed the confidence motion brought by the ruling party.
Reacting to the incident, Bhagwant Mann said that the members of Congress have joined the BJP and called Congress’ the B team’ of the BJP. He alleged that Congress is also involved in BJP’s Operation Lotus. He said that Congress is supplying its MLAs to BJP. The damage has been done.
Earlier, in the meeting of the Advisory Committee, it was decided to extend the proceedings of the Assembly till Monday.
