Hitting out at the Congress for promising the moon to voters and failing to deliver the goods in its 55 years of rule, the BJP said inflation today is hovering around its lowest level of 5% and unemployment around 3% and the growth rate in the country in current times is the highest among G7 and G20 nations so questions raised by the Congress on Narendra Modi government’s performance are baseless.

BJP national spokesman Sudhanshu Trivedi mocked the Congress for now offering to do all that the grand old party failed to deliver in the past 50 years and said the voters are going to pick “Modi ki guarantee” over an alliance of the corrupt in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Highlighting the high growth rate of the country under BJP rule, Trivedi said, “In the past, out of the top 10 years of the highest growth rate five – 2021, 2016, 2015, 2004 and 2003 – were under BJP governments.”

He said in comparison the highest inflation rate and the lowest growth rate was recorded under the Congress rule in 1974 when inflation was as high as 26% and growth rate dipped to 1.19%.

The Congress has released its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha election, with jobs creation, development of infrastructure, and a national caste census among the major highlights.

Trivedi said the promises made by Congress are unbelievable. “The manifesto carries a section on water management which carries a photo of New York’s Buffalo river,” he said, asking the Congress to clarify who was sending photos from abroad.

On environmental cleanliness, the Congress manifesto uses photos from Thailand, he said.

“Earlier, the Congress was making derogatory remarks on the country and the PM from foreign land but now it has got down to even borrowing photos for its manifesto from other countries,” he said.

He said the Congress has a history of misleading people to believe that development in the country started only after its first government came to power. “This was possible only because the media was not free,” he said.

Trivedi also slammed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s announcement that the party would give Rs one lakh per year to the oldest female member of every poor family. “The party had announce in 2019 that they would give Rs 72,000 annually to women but I want to ask how many women have got the sum in states ruled by Congress,” he said the Congress has called its manifesto “nyay ka dastavez” which itself is an admission that the party has not been able to give justice to people during its 50 years of rule.

The Congress manifesto is a document released to create an illusion and mislead voters as it contains promises that the party has not fulfilled in the past 50 years, he said.
