The Congress has started preparations for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat in 2022. An important meeting of Congress MLAs and senior leaders was held at Gandhinagar on Tuesday. In the meeting, leaders discussed the need to strengthen the organization as well as to take an early decision on the Gujarat Congress in-charge and the state president.
Rahul Gandhi will be the star campaigner of the Gujarat Congress in the 2022 elections. However, no decision has been taken about the Prashant Kishor yet. The meeting of Congress MLAs in Gandhinagar went on for more than four hours and was attended by state president Amit Chavda, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Paresh Dhanani and leaders including Bharatsinh Solanki, Madhusudan Mistry and Arjun Modhwadia.
MLAs have been given the responsibility of other assembly seats besides their own. Congress aims to win 125 seats in the 2022 Assembly elections, said a party source.
It was agreed to send the MLA to Delhi to make representations to the High Command for immediate appointment to the post, in which senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry will go to Delhi. After the defeat of the Congress in Gujarat, it has become necessary to change the organization for the 2022 elections. It is also being denied that a well-known election strategist can hand over a big responsibility to Prashant Kishor.
