The Congress, which made a huge comeback in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections by winning 99 seats, has called the extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on June 8 to discuss future course of action and current political situation.
According to party leaders, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will chair the extended CWC meeting, party’s highest decision making body on June 8 at party headquarters at 11 a.m.
According to party sources, the Congress leaders will be discussing the current political situation in the country and the future strategy to deal with the new NDA government at the centre in Parliament.
The sources also said that the Congress leaders will also bring a resolution to thank Kharge and Rahul Gandhi for running a spirited election campaign and reviving the party’s fortunes in the polls.
Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had addressed over 300 public meetings and held several road shows during elections and raised several of the issues.
The CWC will also discuss the plans on how to take the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc together to take on the Narendra Modi 3.0 government at the centre, which will take oath on June 9.
In the polls, the Congress managed to win 99 seats while the BJP which anticipated to win over 350 seats has to settle with 240 seats, less than the majority mark in the Lok Sabha. However, with the support of the NDA partners it is in comfortable position to form government with 293 seats.
