On July 13 in Mumbai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that his government had created eight crore jobs in the past three to four years, silencing those spreading “fake news about unemployment.” He cited a recent Reserve Bank of India report to support his statement and accused the opposition of spreading false narratives that hinder investment, infrastructure development, and the country’s growth.

Congress Chief’s Rebuttal

In response, Congress Chief and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, accused PM Modi of weaving a “web of lies” about job creation. Kharge took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his criticism.

Kharge’s Criticism of NRA

Kharge reminded PM Modi of his 2020 announcement regarding the National Recruitment Agency (NRA), which was intended to streamline recruitment processes and boost transparency. Kharge pointed out that despite the announcement, the NRA has not conducted a single exam in the last four years. He also highlighted that out of the ₹1,517.57 crore allocated to the NRA, only ₹58 crore has been spent.
