The Congress, which has been trying to corner the government over its India-China policy, will be holding a CWC meet on Tuesday to discuss border issues. The fuel price hike, rise in Covis-19 tally and economic conditions prevailing in the current scenario are also likely to be on the agenda. It will be the third CWC meeting held during the pandemic.
In the past, the Congress has supported the government on the national security issue, but Rahul Gandhi has been taking potshots at the Modi government after the India-China flare-up. After PM Narendra Modi’s statement on the LAC issue, the Congress has been up in arms. Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has been tweeting about what he calls the government’s inability to come clean on what happened at LAC.
The Daily Guardian has learned that in CWC there may be a resolution saluting the jawans and supporting the government in crisis, but on the lines of what Dr Manmohan Singh has written to PM Modi. He had suggested the PM to cautiously speak on the national security issue and this would be added in the CWC resolution. Sources in the party have confirmed that fuel price hike will also be looked into. The Congress is also likely to discuss the handling of Covid-19 by the Modi government.
