Prior to the Ram Mandir’s ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony in Ayodhya, a conflict erupted between two communities in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road near Mumbai, Maharashtra. The disagreement, stemming from raised slogans, resulted in a clash and subsequent arrests. Naya Nagar Police promptly took action, registering a case against the accused and detaining them. The incident occurred at around 11 p.m. on Sunday, prompting swift police intervention to control the situation. Authorities have urged residents to disregard rumors, emphasizing an ongoing investigation.
The dispute originated from slogans, leading to a heated argument and the gathering of crowds from both communities on Sunday night. Naya Nagar Police filed a case against five individuals involved, leading to their immediate arrest.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jayant Bajbale provided insight, stating, “Some people traveling in 3-4 vehicles were raising slogans. An argument with the people of another community broke out, and consequently, crowds from both communities gathered.” Upon learning of the incident, the police intervened promptly, taking the instigators into custody.
To maintain order, a substantial police presence was deployed in the area. DCP Jayant Bajbale affirmed that the situation is now under control, with a flag march conducted for peace. Residents of Mira Road are advised to ignore rumors, while a thorough investigation into the matter is ongoing.
