Two individuals, Pankaj Kumar and Ashok Kumar, are alleged to have unlawfully obtained a confidential document related to a blacklisted rice company based in Sangrur. The document was taken from the office of the Director of the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, situated at Anaj Bhawan in Chandigarh’s Sector 39.
According to sources, the suspects have asserted that the documents in question actually belong to them, a claim that is currently under investigation. Surveillance footage from September 9th has led to the identification of the two men as they were seen removing the document from the office.
An FIR (First Information Report) was filed against Pankaj Kumar and Ashok Kumar by Mahesh Sharma, Superintendent of the Rice Branch at Anaj Bhawan, on Friday. In his report to the police, Sharma clarified that the stolen document was associated with the blacklisted company known as M/s Krishna Gram Udyog Samiti in Dhuri, Sangrur. The company had previously lodged an appeal with the Secretary of Food Supply in Punjab challenging the blacklisting decision.
Sharma informed the police that during the course of the appeal hearing for the blacklisted firm, the Secretary of Food Supply had instructed officers to issue a letter to the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) in Dhuri, Sangrur, seeking further clarification regarding the blacklisted company.
Furthermore, Sharma reported that on September 6th, an unknown individual stole a document from the cabin of senior assistant Asha Rani when she came to collect a copy of the order issued by the Secretary of Food Supply. Rani was able to identify the two suspects through CCTV footage. Subsequently, Pankaj Kumar and Ashok Kumar were summoned for investigation, leading to the filing of an FIR. The police have initiated an investigation, and the case has been registered under Section 380 (theft) and Section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 39 police station.
