Windsor, Georgia, was arrested on Thursday. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced that Gray faces several serious charges, including four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children.
The GBI stated that Gray was arrested for “knowingly allowing” his son to possess a weapon. This incident occurred following the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School, where the 14-year-old suspect used a semiautomatic assault-style rifle, resulting in the deaths of two students and two teachers, and injuring nine others.
Colin Gray had previously expressed his understanding of weapon safety, stating, “He knows the seriousness of weapons and what they can do, and how to use them and not use them,” according to an Associated Press report. Gray had been interviewed by authorities last year, where he revealed his son had struggled with the parents’ separation and was often bullied at school.
The teen, who frequently fired guns and hunted with his father, had also been questioned last year regarding a threatening social media post but denied any intention to carry out a school shooting.
