On October 23, in the early hours of the morning, Jameesha Mubin, 29, was killed in a car explosion close to a temple in Coimbatore.

Early on Thursday, NIA officials began conducting raids at the homes of people connected to occurrences in places like Kottamedu, Ponvizha Nagar, Rathinapuri, and Ukkadam in conjunction with the state police.

Nearly 15 days after the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Counter Terrorism and Counter Radicalization (CTCR) division issued an order requesting that an investigation into the situation be launched, the Central Anti-Terrorism Agency conducted its extensive search.

A day after MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, suggested that the NIA look into the case, the MHA issued its directive.

Stalin, in a recommendation letter, to the MHA had requested to transfer the investigation of the case related to the car cylinder explosion in the Ukkadam area in Coimbatore to the NIA and directed police to ensure security in Coimbatore.

More than six people have been arrested by Tamil Nadu Police in connection with the case so far, and they have used the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act as grounds (UAPA).

Those jailed, according to information obtained, are Jameesha Mubin’s companions. Jameesha Mubin was found charred to death in suspicious circumstances after an LPG cylinder in the Maruti 800 he was driving exploded around 4 am near a temple.

As per the police Engineer Mubin, 25, was previously questioned by NIA officials in 2019 for potential ties to terrorism. He is identified as the case’s main defendant by name.

Mohammad Thalka (age 25), Mohammad Asarudheen (age 25), Muhammad Riyaz (age 27), Feroz Ismail (age 27), Mohammad Navaz Ismail (age 27), and Afsar Khan, a relative of the deceased, are among those arrested.
