Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated a 200-bed Covid-19 hospital in Ambedkar Nagar on Sunday. The Aam Aadmi Party leader, who was accompanied by state health minister Satyendar Jain, said that coronavirus cases in the national Capital are under control.
The 200-bed hospital, with a total capacity of 600, has been built at a cost of Rs 181 crore. The project was conceptualised in 2013.
At the inauguration, Kejriwal said, “There was no big hospital here or in nearby districts. Starting today, 200 beds at the Ambedkar Nagar hospital have been made available for coronavirus patients. All these beds have oxygen facilities. Otherwise, this hospital has a capacity of 600 beds.” He further added that he hopes these beds go unoccupied and that these beds only go on to prove that the state government was prepared for the pandemic. Talking about the Covid-19 situation in the national Capital, the CM said, “The situation is under control in Delhi, all parameters are good, the recovery rate is improving and positivity ratio and deaths have reduced.”

The newly inaugurated hospital in the city will be used actively in treating high and moderate symptomatic patients of the virus as these patients cannot be homequarantined or taken to a care centre.
